A few years ago, I made my first trip to Florida. I expected that all the wild places would be spoiled and I wouldnÕt see much wildlife. Was I ever surprised.
Right outside our motel window in Coral Gables was part of the inland waterway. The day my son and I arrived, there were several manatee munching on floating plants. We watched them for a long time. We were bewitched by their gentle calm way and their acceptance of an audience. But no one else stopped to watch. It was as though they were the most common of sights. What an introduction to Florida. The trip was certainly not a disappointment at all.
