This April, my family visited a black mangrove-lined canal in FloridaÕs Middle Keys. My husband Karl, our two daughters, Erin (17) and Kerry (12), and I were thrilled to discover wild manatees in the canal. We were amazed at the grace and agility of these cumbersome-looking, algae-covered vegetarians. Their movements seemed like a choreographed, underwater ballet - with me and my family not knowing any of the steps.
