Members of the Wyncote Audubon Society, who organize a migration bird count, were on hand to help the PMFS students. Wednesday turned out to be a foggy and still day, not ideal for spotting hawks. The students saw lots of other creatures, though, including: a yellowshafted flicker eating grubs, female and male bluebirds, a catbird, a robin, a female cardinal, a downy woodpecker, a monarch butterfly, crickets, a deserted bee hive, a yellow jacket (that stung one of the boys!), and a white tailed deer. The weather on Thursday was better. The following creatures were observed: 4 red-tailed hawks, 2 turkey vultures, 2 blue jays, 1 blue bird, a dragonfly, and a sulphur butterfly.
If you are in the Philadelphia area during the fall, we suggest you go to the park anywhere from Sept 1-Dec. 1. It's a great way to spend a science class!

The park is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm in September and October and 10:00am to 4:00 pm in November.
