Elephant Habitat Design![]() There are many places on earth where elephants can live. For instance, they can live in hot, dry grasslands or wet, cool jungle-like areas. Elephants can adapt to many different habitats. They live in Africa and south-east Asia. The way an enclosure looks or is designed depends on the type of elephants live in it, African or Asian. If the enclosure looks like an African grassland, it probably means that all or the majority of elephants living in it are African. If it looks like a jungle-like area, all or the majority are Asian. An enclosure must have materials that make the animal belive they are actually in their natural habitat. Some are: a pond to drink from and bathe in, rocks for making the enclosure look natural, trees to eat from and other food sources such as: grass, berries, twigs, and fallen leaves. In the wild elephants eat much of the same things. Being an herbivore it is not a feared predator. Elephants don't need special places to care for their young, they care for them with the herd. by Christine
