Patricia Moehlman is a behavioral ecologist. This means that she tries to learn how an animal's behavior (the way they act) is affected by their environment (where they live). Patricia has spent most of her work life in Africa studying the animals of the Serengeti Plain. She earned her nickname "Jackal Woman" at the beginning of her career while studying jackals in Tanzania. She still works in Tanzania, but now she is the chairman of the IUCN Equid Specialist Group. Equids are animals in the horse family.
